Your Personal BEST: An Empowered Life!

Increase Self-Esteem, Confidence and Motivation with Hypnosis

WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL?

Every human being, psychologists claim, has an ultimate goal. The goal may be maintained in the subconscious mind, but it is nonetheless a final objective. And it is the same for all people, regardless of race, creed, nationality or even physical condition.

The ultimate goal for each individual is Self-Actualization: achieving what sports people call a ?personal best.? Regardless of background, education, financial standing or other factors, every individual is subconsciously induced to move onward and upward, to be the best possible version of themself in relation to beliefs and values.

Progress toward the ultimate goal, and necessary intermediate objectives, is affected by experiential factors ? the hand of cards dealt out by heredity, environment, upbringing, opportunity and life in general. There are three factors essential to positive progress: self-esteem, confidence and motivation.

During the course of a lifetime, virtually everyone experiences problems involving one or more of these elements. Resolving such problems is one of the most important and valuable capabilities of hypnosis.

Self-Esteem, Confidence and Motivation

ELEVATING SELF-ESTEEM

High self-esteem is a basic essential of success. Low self-esteem, however, does not suddenly appear. Unlike the symptoms of a cold or the flu, it develops at a much slower rate, usually going unnoticed in early stages like a cancer, while spreading slowly throughout the mind. When recognized, it may be full-blown, destructively demoralizing, and without effective intervention possibly even terminal.

While poor self-esteem can emanate from events which might otherwise be considered personal setbacks (such as in business, relationships, health, etc.), the primary cause is negative programming from the past. It might be a product of verbal judgments or observable actions made by parents, relatives, teachers, authority figures, childhood peers, or friends. Repetitive criticism, degrading ridicule, disrespectful comments and other similar factors many times gloss over or completely ignore commendable achievements, because they are simply focused on accentuating the negative in a misguided attempt to motivate. Negative valuations and hurtful events are absorbed by and buried within subconscious memory, while the victim continues along struggling with troubled feelings, fears, self-doubt and damaging attitudes, often totally unaware of their sources.

Low self-esteem must be dealt with first, before progress can be achieved around building self-confidence and creating motivation. It is difficult for a person to show confidence while inwardly viewing themselves as unworthy, insignificant or incapable.

We know that the subconscious mind is the storage house of memory. Through hypnosis it is possible to set aside the conscious mind, while seeking to locate and uncover the detrimental memories which have been adversely affecting the personality. In bringing the problems into the light of understanding, resolution can be achieved that frees the client from the past and opens the doors to future progress and goal achievement.

EMPOWERING CONFIDENCE

The establishment of self-confidence must follow the dismantling and disposal of past negative mental programming? eliminating from self-perception any labels such as bad, wrong, stupid, clumsy, dumb, inept, oblivious, untalented, ignorant, lazy, etc. In this pursuit, hypnosis can become the source of self-discovery ? revealing untapped reservoirs of strength and courage as well as unrecognized capabilities that lead to an acceptance of valid self-worth.

???????

The procedures for developing self-confidence may vary considerably, depending on the depth and origins of the problem. In milder cases, working out problems of self-esteem may be followed by programming which utilizes visualization, creating in the mind pictures of success, confidence and appropriate abilities. Enhanced suggestions given while in hypnosis can be absorbed and accepted, leading to attitude modification and positive demonstrations of newly acquired self-assurance.

In more complex cases where sadness is a factor, the hypnotist may elect to use techniques to integrate conflicting parts of oneself, and/or to remove fears that can free up behavior and reduce negative internal judgments. And in doing so, positive feelings of self-worth and confidence can develop in a natural way.

The long-term results can be significant. Mood and energy levels increase, psychosomatic and compulsive symptoms fade, emotions become understood, new responses chosen, resilience builds in response to setbacks. As positive thoughts develop about the possibilities for their life, clients naturally move toward greater self-direction and interpersonal involvement.

FACTORS THAT IGNITE MOTIVATION

With self-esteem and confidence enhanced, improved ability to self-motivate comes into the spotlight. Psychologist Abraham Maslow defined five levels at which people are motivated: 1) Psychologicalfood, drink, sleep, sex;  2) Safetyprotection, freedom from fear, predicable order;  3) Belongingness: family, friends, social interaction, reciprocity, need to be valued;  4) Esteemself-awareness, self-worth, self-respect;  5) Self-Actualizationthe need to grow, to achieve one's potential.

Essential to generating positive healthy motivation is to eliminate any fears ? particularly fear of failure, or its often overlooked counterpart, fear of success. First, begin by reflecting back and recognizing both your motivations and their subsequent successes which occurred in the past. Next, establish a sense of clear direction. Where had you been wanting to go? Where is it now that you want to go? And why ? for what purpose?

Then comes the all-important factor of ?goal-setting.? It?s not enough to have awareness of your ultimate goal. Just like when you set off on a cross-country road trip, you must have a map to get there. Determine a series of specific, short-term, quickly achievable action steps that, incrementally, create a path to getting to there. Accomplishment of the first action must also provide convincing proof that forward movement has indeed been established. Reward also creates a powerful motivating factor. Upon achievement of key milestones and the final goal itself, developing a habit of self-recognition is critical. This self-reward may be a simple treat that is in alignment with your health and wellness goals. Pride of achievement as well as self-approval and self-satisfaction enhance motivation to continue.

THE END RESULT: MOTIVATION!

The purpose of establishing a pattern of achieving short-term, successive goals is important to understand. A small success generates additional confidence. It creates a sense of completion, readiness and eagerness for the next step. Success breeds success, and motivation beings flowing naturally.
